HTC Aria Cell Phone
HTC Aria cell phone seems create to give new design touch into HTC cell phones. In my opinion, HTC Aria cell phone is purely about new design touch instead new features and specifications. At the first look, this cell phone looks like HTC HD Mini cell phone. The shape is similar even for inside part. The similarity can be saw in the casing design, bolt style in the four corners of body back, and how to open the casing (by tearing up the dent in upper body). The inside casing color is bright yellow which give a stylish color if compare with the usual black or silver color.
Of course, beside the similarity of HTC Aria cell phone and HTC HD Mini above, there are some different between them. As example, HTC Aria cell phone uses the optical joystick. If handle, the casing is felt different because the back part of HTC HD Mini cell phone feels rough (which is usually experienced with doff material) but the back part of HTC Aria cell phone feels smooth and shiny. In below of the screen, there are some touch buttons which are home, menu, back, and search button. The optical joystick is in between the menu and back button. There is a power button in top of body which also uses as screen lock.
There are dots style around the camera which is the speaker exactly. In the left body, there is 2 ways button which uses as volume controller. As additional for the external antenna, there is 3.4 mm audio jack for the earphone. The micro USB part can be used for data transfer and battery charging. It seems the similarity between HTC Aria cell phone and HTC HD Mini is only in design – not in all the aspects. For Operating System (OS), HTC Aria cell phone uses Android 2.1 (Eclair) OS. This Android 2.1 OS means that HTC Aria uses the same OS with HTC Legend cell phone. Also that both of these HTC Aria and HTC Legend cell phone is equipped with HTC Sense.
HTC Aria cell phone is equipped with 600 MHz Qualcomm processor, 512 MB ROM, 384 MB RAM, and up to 32 MB microSD external memory. The HTC Aria cell phone specifications is lower than HTC Desire cell phone but the performance is still okay. It can be said that HTC Aria cell phone targets the market that need complete features smart cell phone but with mini body. The microSD is important since this cell phone will automatically direct the application installation and data backup to external memory. Users cannot use the camera if the microSD memory is not installed.
HTC Aria cell phone supports Java which means users can install base on java applications that can be found in the Android Market. The homescreen is consist of seven panels. As usual, telecommunication operator shortcut is appeared automatically in the homescreen. The FriendStream can be used as all-in-one window to monitor the Facebook, Flickr, Plurk and Twitter status. Users can directly upload the photo and video to Facebook by using the Facebook application. Users also can upload the photo and video directly through camera application. Users also can directly call to phone number in Facebook’s phone-book.
YouTube application allows users to upload and watch the video. The FM Radio feature only can active when the earphone is plug-in since there is no external antenna available. There is no Audio Booster as like in HTC HD Mini cell phone, but the sound quality is still good. The settings is very simple. There is only Mute/Unmute, Mono/Stereo, Speaker/Headset, and Scan/Save. HTC Aria cell phone is equipped with aGPS, Google Maps, and Footprints. Footprints allows users to short the photos in Favorites, Shopping, Dining, Leisure, and others additional category as well as add the location tag. The location tag will be appeared in the Google Maps.
For the internet, this cell phone supports IE GPRS, EDGE, 3G and WLAN. HTC Aria cell phone uses the same HTC Sync application with HTC Hero, HTC Legend, HTC Desire, and HTC Wildfire cell phone. To download HTC Sync, it is needed the cell phone number series. Users must update to latest HTC Sync application before can use it for HTC Aria cell phone. The camera icon can be found in the homescreen as default icon. The Camcorder is accessible from mainstay menu or mode mover in the camera menu. The display is automatically in landscape as default when the screen is opened.
There is no flash for camera feature. For the picture and video taking, users can use the optical joystick or the focus points in the screen. The focus point can be moved by taping the screen area. The zoom bar will be appeared after tap the ‘+/-’ icon. Zoom and focus point is not active when the record on going. The settings are complete enough. There is Brightness, Contrast, Saturation, Sharpness, Effect, White Balance, Resolution, Metering Mode, Review Duration, Flicker Adjustment, Auto Focus, Face Detection, Shutter Sound, ISO, Widescreen, Geo-tag photos, Quality, Self-Timer, Time Stamp, Grid, Encoding Type, Recording Length, and Record with Audio.
The highest resolution for photo is 5 MP (2592×11952). The highest resolution for video is VGA (640×480). As mentioned before, the photo result can be directly uploaded to Facebook and the video result can be uploaded to YouTube. Photo also can be sent via Bluetooth, Gmail, Email, or Messages. The albums can show the photo and video which is saved in Facebook and Flickr account. For network, HTC Aria cell phone supports GSM 850/900/1800/1900 MHz. For data connectivity, this cell phone supports microUSB, Bluetooth 2.1, WiFi.
The screen is 3.2 inches 320×480 pixels TFT touch screen. The battery is Li-Ion 2.7V 1200mAh which offers 4 hours talk-time and 3 days standby time. The dimension is 104x58x12 mm and the weight is 112 grams.
