Knowing Blackberry OS 6 Settings/Options
It is well-known that Blackberry OS 6 offers better setting menu in term of organizing if compare with the previous Blackberry OS 5. The setting is organized into several main categories which are Sound and Ring Tones, Network and Connections, Display, Typing and Input, Device, Call Management, Security, Accessibility, and Third Party Application. It is true that the symbol and log is still same with Blackberry OS 5 but the structure is very different.
It is so different so users may be confuse after upgrade from Blackberry OS 5 to Blackberry OS 6. Therefore I write this article to help Blackberry cell phone users to be more accustomed with Blackberry OS 6 settings menu.
Blackberry OS 6 HRT & Service Book Settings
HRT (Host Routing Table) which used to overcome Email sending issue, is in different place. In Blackberry OS 5, it is in [Options]>[Advanced Options]>[Host Routing Table]. In Blackberry OS 6, HST can be found in [Options]>[Device]>[Advanced System Settings]>[Host Routing Table]. The settings also include Service Book, SIM Card, Browser Push, and Cell Broadcasting.
Blackberry OS 6 Display Related Settings
In Blackberry OS 5, the display related settings (such as display and themes) is separated in different menu. In Blackberry OS 6, it is more well-organized in one category, [Display] category. [Display] category includes time and date settings, screen settings, lock screen settings. It is [Screen Display] option to set the themes, font’s size and type, and screen’s back light.
Blackberry OS 6 Application Settings
In Blackberry OS 5, application setting is done via [Options]>[Application]. In Blackberry OS 6, application is set via two ways. The First way is via [Options]>[Third Party Applications] and the second way is via [Option]>[Device]>[Application Management]. By using the second way, users can see system and application information of installed application which includes application description, used processor resources, available module, and deletion feature. There is also a list that contains of memory and processor level usage and the applications that use the resources.
Blackberry OS 6 Input Settings
In Blackberry OS 5, the keyboard and screen menu is combined. In Blackberry OS 6, it is separated into different menu. The menu can be accessed via [Options]>[Typing & Input]. Users can set input system, keyboard format, text spellers, dictionary, and track-pad sensitivity. Track-pad sensitivity setting is a new interesting feature since users can set it freely based on the needs of comfortable usage.
Blackberry OS 6 Call Settings
Call settings can be accessed via [Options]>[Call Management]. [Hearing Aid Mode] is surely an interesting feature in it. This feature can control the speaker quality to match the hearing aid (if users use it). [Hearing Aid Mode] is activated by choosing [Yes] at the “Mode Enabled” option. Users can also activate Text-to-Text via phone at this [Call Management] menu.
Blackberry OS 6 Security Settings
In Blackberry OS 6, the entire security related features is put in one category which can be accessed via [Options]>[Security]. The data wipe feature is in [Security Wipe] option. Beside [Security Wipe], [Security] category also includes data encryption, Blackberry password, Firewall, and Smart Cards settings.
