Samsung GT I5503 Galaxy 5 Cell Phone
Samsung GT I5503 Galaxy 5 cell phone is a low-end Android cell phone. The design is similar with Samsung Corby series. The screen is 2.8 inches 240×320 pixels 245k colors TRT capcitive touchscreen. The front look is dominated by the screen. The body shape is oval and ergonomic. In below of screen, there are six buttons which used for calling, controlling, back, or widget shortcut. The Corby series touch seems obvious with the line style in it. In the left, there is volume controller button, and charging port as well as data port. In the behind, users will find camera and speaker.
There are seven homescreen that can be chose freely. Users only need to move their finger to left or right in the touchscreen. It is easy to insert the new widget from Android or Samsung in this Samsung GT I5503 Galaxy 5 cell phone. Users only need to long tap the screen for it. The screen is quite responsive for a capacitive touchscreen. Users can use the Buddies Now to see the contact activity. Buddies Now offers a different way for voice calling and message sending as well as previous contact activity showing.
In the first page of menu, users can find Android Market, Memo, Calendar, FM Radio, Browser, and Camera. In the second page of menu, there are connection features such as WiFi, Bluetooth, satellite, and many others. Samsung GT I5503 Galaxy 5 cell phone is equipped with 2 MP camera which is a quite low resolution for a cell phone camera these days. These low resolution camera makes the photo result quality is quite low – especially when use to take picture in low light condition. The various camera settings (such as ISO or NightMode) cannot help to improve the photo result quality.
The Samsung GT I5503 Galaxy 5 cell phone’s audio feature is quite special. There is 5.1 channel Surround which help to produce a good quality sound with a lot of sound variants. If use an earphone when play a song, users will find a clear and detail sound. There is also an equalizer which offers better music sound base on the music genre. However, I suggest to only hear a music through earphone since the speaker quality is so-so. The speaker sound is not round if the volume set to maximum (or little in below maximum).
The FM Radio feature only can be activated if the earphone is plugged since there is no internal antenna for this cell phone. This feature is completed with automatically search feature so users can search and save the local radio channel automatically. Samsung GT I5503 Galaxy 5 cell phone uses Android 2.1 (Eclair) as cell phone operating system (OS). It is quite rare in low-end Android cell phones. By using Android Eclair, this cell phone offers good improvement if compare with other low-end Android cell phones. At least, the battery consumption is more efficient.
As a Samsung cell phone, Samsung GT I5503 Galaxy 5 cell phone offers Samsung “Screen” application and Samsung Apps which is impossible to find in non Samsung cell phone. The “Screen” application allows users to enjoy virtual world with augment reality. The Samsung Apps application allows users to download the needed applications from Samsung Cell Phone Application server. For the network, this cell phone supports GSM 850/900/1800/1900 MHz and HDSPA 900/2100 MHz.
For the connectivity, this cell phone supports HDSPA, EDGE, GPRS, Bluetooth, MicroUSB, and WiFi. The internal memory is 170MB and the external memory is up-to 16GB microSD. This cell phone’s processor is 600 MHz. The battery is Li-Ion 1200mAh which offers 9 hours 30 minutes (2G)/6 hours 30 minutes (3G) talk time and 521 hours (2G)/375 hours (3G) stanby time. The dimension is 108x56x12.3 mm and the weight is 102 gram. The messaging function supports SMS (threaded view), MMS, Email, Push Mail, IM, and RSS.
keis software for galaxy 5 i5503 is not compatible, can’t manage my apps, cant download via pc like games, music syncronise the phone etc. i can upload the software included in the box but it is not compatible with the phone,WHATS WRONG WITH THIS KEIS SOFTWARE?!!!! i even donwnload it via internet,www.samsungmobile.com BUT IT’S USELESS same as the cd included in the box!
i agree with u alvin fernandez, keis software free cds in the box is useless..its not compatible with the galaxy 5 i5503….

It is not useless, it works perfectly with my Galaxy 5.
Don’t use kies software. Connect as a USB and save it in the SDcard. For games, try to find the files in APK format. Then disconnect the USB, go to the file where you saved it and install it.
how can i download games with this galaxy i5503?
is the java applications can be read by the device? and why is it i can’t download anything using the android market?
I suggest dont buy samsung galaxy android, personally I find it not that user friendly and confusing at many points, not great in customizing with option at all like asecending ring, mp3 ringtones, etc and you may need to download add-on apllications, more over performance degrades after installation of 5-6 applications.

Hi.. im using this phone right now. my friend let me borrowed it .. i was just wondering.. cause i sumtyms erase all threads in my messaging.. wen he cheks his phone.. he can sumhow view those messages from people i have txted.. how do you do it? he wont tell me. i keep on checking the setting but nothing sims to fit. does anybody know how to do it?
go to phonebook then click the history tab, you will be able to see all the the call and text message log

the PC suite SKIES for this phone is useless and cannot connect to PC using this suite. I was able to connect only first time after that i am not able to connect through skies. Even tried on another system.
Hi John, I am facing same problem. My phone bills are going up dramatically for my newly purchased Samsung GT-i5503 in Dubai . I did as Mari advised and disabled ‘always on -mobile ‘ . After this I deleted all the Access Points as advised by my service provider. I have now activated my 2G option in order to not get billed. I hope this will work.

One week back i took this samsung galaxy 5 i.e. on Feb 01 2011. But i dont know how to do voice recording and also how to send the files from bluetooth to other mobiles(but it can recieve files from other mobiles) and also how to set the mp3 songs or music as my ringtone. Is there any settings for customise setting the ringtones (I can set only default ringtones as ringtone). And is there any option to edit the photos??
I Read that user guide but i dint get sufficient information in that.

Here’s how to set the ringtones, notifications and alarms of your choice..
1. Connect your phone to the computer.
2. In your memory card (SD Card), under the folder audio, create 3 new folders with names ringtones, notifications and alarms.
3. Move or copy the mp3 ringotones, notification tones or alarm tones of your choice to their respective folder.
4. Disconnect the phone from the computer..There you have it..your favorite ringtones, notification tones and alarm tones in the list.. Enjoy..

Its quite simple to forward msgs..All u have to do is long press the msg u wanna forward..ie.,press and hold the msg u wanna forward for 2-3 seconds…u get a list of options to lock, forward, copy and delete the msg..Hope this helps..
i am only new to samsung, and i only bought the unit yesterday. may i ask if how can i make icons from the homescreen disappear? i tend to long press some of the icons (especially “Settings”) and automatically, it appears on the homescreen (yesterday, i accidentally pressed one of the icon & it appeared on the homescreen twice). above, it was only written how to put the icons on the homescreen, but there was no instructions to let it disappear.

If you want to delete any particular icon that u have accidentally moved to the home screen, long press the icon (on home screen) u wanna delete, u get a delete icon at the bottom of the screen..just move that icon u are pressing towards the bottom of the screen where u find the delete icon..Your installed application is deleted…Enjoy your new phone
