Samsung GT-I9000 Galaxy S Cell Phone
Samsung GT-I9000 Galaxy S cell phone is the high-end Android cell phone with latest technology available. It seems Samsung Galaxy S cell phone live up the “Big is Sexy” phrases. It is because the dimensions is large enough (122.4×64.2×9.9 mm) but still thin with 9.9 mm thickness. The weight is also light enough, 118 gram. The fact is that this cell phone is one of the thinnest cell phone available beside the iPhone 4 which has 9.3 mm thickness.
From front look, this cell phone’s design has similarity with iPhone 3G. The different is that this cell phone has 3 buttons at below of the screen which are Home, Menu, and Back.The buttons is not so sensitive so can avoid from unintentionally pushing. For esthetics, this cell phone seems luxurious with shiny black color touch. The bad is that the casing is dominated with plastic material which means this Samsung GT-I9000 Galaxy S cell phone is frail enough.
Fortunately, there is the hand curve at behind so the grip will be strong enough to avoid the slip. However, the plastic material make this cell phone susceptible for sweat. In front part, at top right, there is a VGA Camera which is perfect for video calling, There are also ambient light sensor and proximity sensor there. There is no camera shortcut button for this cell phone. On the left side, there is volume control. On top head, there are audio jack 3.5 mm and USB port which also act as charging tool. A mono speaker can be found at behind with a 5 MP Camera.
The CPU is 1 GHz Humingbird 55CP111 with 512 MB RAM capacity. The processor is ARM Cortex-A8 and co-processor is PowerVR SGXS40 GPU. This chip is the latest technology for cell phone which adopt 45 nm architecture. The previous technology still use 65 nm architecture. Samsung GT-I9000 Galaxy S cell phone is claimed able to process 89.5 millions triangle per second of graphic. This is three times faster than iPhone 3GS cell phone or Nexus One cell phone.

With this technology, it is claimed that the energy is saved up until 20 percent while the contrast is lighter, the reflection is less, and the picture is sharper and more detail. As interface, Samsung GT-I9000 Galaxy S offers Touch Wizz 3.0. There is no other choice for it – even the Android default interface. There are seven homescreen that offered by this Touch Wizz 3.0. There is Phone, Contact, Messaging, and Home on there.
Users is allowed to change the application in homescreen freely. The connectivity menu shortcut can be found at status bar. There are four icons which are WiFi, Bluetooth, Profile and Vibration. This status bar will be also used as active menu for Radio FM and music feature. To make this Samsung GT-I9000 Galaxy S more interesting, there are nine Samsung widgets which is inherited from Touch Wizz 3.0 so this widget can not be found in other cell phones.
As general, the widgets function is social networking and online news. It can be said that Touch Wizz 3.0 is more interesting than Android default user interface. Touch Wizz 3.0 also has larger integration capabilities. As example, the activities and media menu in contact which allow users to maximize the usage of social networking (Facebook and Twitter) accessing. Users can comment or show the friend’s photos directly from contact without need to open the Facebook application or web browser.
There are many new applications that offered by this Samsung GT-I9000 Galaxy S cell phone such as Samsung Apps which is the online application market that provided by Samsung. It means that there are two application markets available for this cell phone which are Android Market and Samsung Apps. For now, there are limited applications in Samsung Apps but it will increase in future for sure. Swype Text Input is also an interesting application. Hi everyone, upgraded myself to this sleek Samsung Galaxy S i9000, after lots of research, it was a tough decision as all the similar latest models had almost similar features, the fast speed 1GB hummingbird processor, good battery life, excellent GPS features & really amazingly clear screen made me decide to select this model over others. Since almost over five weeks of usage no call drops, no phone hangs or freezes, no sync problems, has given me true satisfaction of my wise decision to pick this phone. Wi-Fi & blue tooth usage has much less battery drain compared to its competitors (no names please). Video calling is charm on this phone ‘cos of 1GB processor. Radio usage reception is excellent almost always. With 32GB memory, watched AVATAR in HD on my i9000 and at end of it I used 50% battery – not bad eh! Amazing masterpiece created by Samsung Galaxy S team. Overall performance is excellent for my usage. My advice buy the model which suits your usage habits, this model for sure is way ahead of others per my personal research, usage & satisfaction.
