Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Cell Phone


Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 cell phone is the first Android cell phone from Sony Ericsson. This cell phone is equipped with Sony Ericsson mainstay interfaces which are Timescape and Mediascape. Timescape provide the entire communication “notes” in one window – from missed call until social networking updating status. The “notes” is listed base on time which support filtering for easy finding. To access it, users need to tap the Timescape icon in default homescreen. There will be a wizard in first time use. To input Facebook, Twitter, or E-mail log-in data, users need to open [Online service accounts].

Unfortunately, it is only allowed to have one account for each online service. Users must reconfigure it if want to use the different account for Facebook, Twitter, or E-mail. Timescape also able to act as homescreen. While the Timescape is active, push menu button, tap the [Settings], and then tap [Set as home]. The Timescape already become homescreen. In other hand, Mediascape “collect” media contents such as music, video, and photo. Users able to sort the media contents base on categories in internal memory as well as in external memory. Mediascape is accessible from default homescreen.

Users just need to tap the Mediascape icon in homescreen and the Mediascape page will appear. Then, users need to tap the content tab such as Music tab, Video tab, or Photo tab to access the content. Users is allowed to transfer the content to PC/Laptop as long as there is Media Go application in it. There are three homescreen windows available in this cell phone. As other Android cell phone, users is allowed customize the screen contents. To move between homescreen, users only need to do side drag in the screen. To access the prime menu area, users need to drag up the bottom side bar.

Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 cell phone provide interesting touch in synchronization. There are Sony Ericsson Sync, Google Sync, and Moxier Sync in this cell phone. Sony Ericsson Sync synchronize contact and schedule in the calendar between cell phone and Sony Ericsson web site. The account can be created in cell phone as well as in Sony Ericsson web site directly. Google Sync synchronize cell phone with email, calendar, and contact in Google account. These two synchronizations can be activated through [Settings] menu. Moxier Sync synchronize direct push to MS Exchange Server.

Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 is launched with Android 1.6 in it. However, users is allowed to download Android latest version from Sony Ericsson web site freely by using OS update facility in the cell phone. This cell phone is completed with many great cell phone applications such as Facebook, Gmail, Google Talk, Maps, Moxier Calendar, Moxier Contact, Moxier Mail, Moxier Sync, Moxier Tasks, OfficeSuite, PlayNow, Quadrapop, Sony Ericsson Sync, TrackID, WisePilot, and YouTube. There are also many applications available in Android Market that can be added.

An 8.1 MP autofocus camera is equipped into this cell phone. Users can find this camera in behind with flash in below the camera. Camera button is in right side, in lower end. The volume button in top end also able to act as zoom button. Photo and Video mode changing can be done through the screen menu. The prime setting menu is showed in the screen which allows easy configurations. In photo mode, there are capturing mode, smile detection, touch capture, resolution, scenes, focus mode, and EV. The others will be showed if users choose [Advanced Settings] through menu.

In The Video mode, there is Video Size, Multimedia, Scenes, Capturing Mode, and EV. For advanced setting, there is Photo Light, Self-timer, Metering, White balance, Image Stabilizer, Shutter Sound, Microphone, and Reset Settings. The photo and video result quality is high which make this cell phone perfect for multimedia activities in my opinion. This great multimedia feature is completed with 1 GB internal memory. Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 cell phone also has microSD slot which support up to 16GB external memory capacity. Unfortunately, it is quite hard to install the microSD memory since the slot is inside the casing and behind the battery.

For data connectivity, this cell phone support micro USB, BlueTooth, and WiFi. It is quite easy to connect this cell phone with PC/Laptop. It is because the connection do not need additional application. However, users still must do mounting before able to transfer data between cell phone and PC/Laptop. Just drag status bar to below and tap [USB Connected] > [Mount]. PC/Laptop will read internal memory and microSD as PC/Laptop drive which allow user to do transferring data through copy and paste.

The screen is the 4 inch TFT 480×854 pixel 65k color WVGA touch screen which is surely a comfortable interfacing. The screen is equipped with screen protector to avoid the leaved fingers and check prints in the screen. This screen protector is also to avoid scratch while clean the screen. In below of the screen, there is menu, home, and back button. The battery is 1500 mAhLi-Polymer 3.6V (BST-41 type) which provide 4 hours talk time and 2.5 days standby time.

For internet connectivity, Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 cell phone support GPRS, EDGE, HSPA, and WLAN. For the network, this cell phone support GSM 850/900/1800/1900 and UMTS 900/1700/2100. The processor is Qualcomm Snapdragon 1GHz which provide fast speed for this cell phone. With 119x63x18 as dimension and 136 gram as weight, this cell phone is manly cell phone in my opinion. It is because the dimensions is quite large which match in man grip.
